What is the Junkyard...

In the Words of Matt CB

Take a festival and a Rave, mash it up for a while and then add a sprinkle of Pop Art to the mixture and you get the Junkyard. This is a happening which takes place in Portsmouth; its a mish-mash of Bands, DJs & Promoters Performing in an arena of pop art Umbrellas Drapes, Camo-nets, VJ Displays and Poi spinners.

Musical genres range from Folk! to Breakbeat, Punk, Rock, Psychedelic, Experimental, Progressive Trance, Psy Trance, Drum & Bass, Indie, House, Hip Hop, Prog Rock, Glam Rock, Dub, Dub Step, Ska, Nu Energy, Tribal Techno, Old Skool... yeah av it :) anything goes!!!

Hosted by Cool Banana & Friends. The Junkyard has a monthly residency at the Barn, Behind the Milton Arms in Portsmouth and always takes place the last Saturday of the month.

We really enjoy working closely with Deltawave & Digital Pollution, who have become good friends and we look forward to many more parties with them. Also The philosipha, Jack Presto, Bemis, Bubbledubble, Spiral Architects and many more. Sorry if I missed anyone out.

"The Cool Banana Junkyard Show is a low key psychedelic party night with friends and guests"

There is huge inspiration taken from the late sixties New York underground scene, Andy Wharhol's Factory and The Velvet Underground. There is also inspiration taken from MaDchester Legend Tony Wilson with factory records and the club Hacienda. Loved Ravin then and still lovin it now :)

"A Happening..."

We have recently decided to expand on the Junkyard concept by bringing to you "The Coalition", this is a mini festival to celebrate peace and promote global awareness. For our first festival we have invited Narcosis as co-organiser, and reverb and custard in the restaurant area, and a mixture of DJs to bring to you "A Day Out of Time" which will take place at Spitbank Fort Saturday 25th July 2009. Please check out this link   www.thecoalitionfestival.com for more information.

I would like to say none of this wouldn't have been possible without the support and hard work of my fellow band members 'Cool Banana' and all the people that has helped us, the bands, DJs and Artists. We're all in for the party and to make a safe little place to hang out and have fun. And of course many thanks to your good selves in making this little scene happen.

Peace, Love & Best Wishes, Matt CB
